Spring News 2013

Festive Fun
All too quickly the end of the year was upon us & with it the huge but enjoyable task of organising Lollipops Festive Fun event, bigger & better than the previous year.   Again it was a huge success with over 60 children attending. Wonderful gifts were produced in the craft room, from reindeer crafts to candle holders. The inflatable assault course went down a storm & races were run throughout the day on the remote control car track. Although very busy at this time of the year we were pleased that Santa managed to make a guest appearance and although the queues were long those waiting were entertained by Adam – The Magician.   After all the excitement & exercise a much needed rest & refreshments was had by all with a multitude of delicious homemade cakes and buns.   As with previous years the Festive Fun event was a huge success, enjoyed by everyone. A big THANK YOU to all those involved.

The New Year started with Lollipop members enjoying a captioned performance of “Sleeping Beauty” with X Factor star David Heath. It was a good turn out enjoyed by all.

In January the 0-11 year old members enjoyed an exclusive party at Wacky Warehouse. This was not only a fun & energetic day for members but also a great opportunity for parents to catch up with new friends.
The play area was fit to bursting with happy smiling children and the day was a great success with a wonderful atmosphere.

Flowhouse
In January for the first time ever Lollipop members aged 12+ got the chance to test their surfing skills at Flowhouse a new attraction at Xscape.  Early on the Sunday morning a group of very nervous but very exciting young people boarded the coach to Castleford.  Due to the way the waves are produced it was quickly evident that communication would only be possible through visual clues, gestures, and signing something our Lollipop members found extremely easy.  After an exhausting but fun time filled with a lot of laughter everyone came off the slopes excited, energised and deservedly proud of what they had achieved. After polishing off a well-deserved buffet of sandwiches, cakes and fruit the group finished off the day riding the 6D experience before finally heading back to the coach exhausted and extremely proud of
what everyone had achieved.

Yamato Drummers
At short notice Lollipop managed to secure a number of tickets for members to watch the amazingly talented Yamato Drummers at the Grand Opera House. There was a lot of interaction with the audience and before long everyone was joining in by clapping along.  From the hustle and bustle of our group leaving the venue it was evident that everyone had had a wonderful evening.  For those who have not experienced the Yamato Drummers they are well worth a visit.

Waterworld
In March Lollipop members were invited to attend an event at Waterworld. With exclusive use of both the pool, slides and café area everyone had a splashing good time.  As always this trip proved to be a family favourite!
